NAESC Insulin and Glucagon Administration Training Guidelines for School Nurses
This workshop will provide training to the registered nurses in school districts in regards to the laws pertaining to the administration of insulin and glucagon that trains volunteer school personnel to administer glucagon and/or insulin to Arkansas public school students who are diagnosed with diabetes. These laws allow trained volunteer school personnel in the absence of the school nurse to administer glucagon, insulin, or both to a child diagnosed with diabetes in an emergency situation. The Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas State Board of Nursing, in collaboration with the Arkansas School Nurses Association and diabetic experts, worked together to identify and approve Insulin and Glucagon Administration Training programs that met the requirements of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing Rules, Chapter 9.
