SCSC - Navigating Through Classroom Strategies That Work: Classroom Structure, Routines, Visual Cues and Work Systems



Structured Teaching is an evidence-based approach to instructing students with Autism. This approach will also benefit students with ADHD, OCD, learning impairments, communication disorders, and hearing impairments. Structured Teaching is a system for organizing student environments, developing appropriate activities, and helping students understand what is expected of them. There are five major components to structured teaching: They include: physical organization/visual boundaries, schedules, routines, work systems, and task organization.  TESS components addressed for this workshop include:   1C, 1E, 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, and 3C.

Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. All professional development (PD) sessions require a minimum number of participants. If the minimum number is not met; the PD session will be canceled two weeks prior to the event. Registrants for the session will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the sessio
