Arkansas's new ESSA plan, recently approved by the U.S. Department of Education, includes chronic absence as one of several school quality/student success measures. During this session, you will 1) learn what chronic absence is, 2) how it impacts academic performance, 3) how to calculate chronic absence for your school and subgroups within your school, and 4) how to use a three tiered approach to reducing chronic absence in your building.
