NWAESC(2095)---Essentials 2-Defining Behavior

This 6 hour training is fundamental to the understanding and implementation of successful data collection and behavior change. The information is derived from nearly 50 years of research on individuals with problem behavior and is based on research in Applied Behavior Analysis.  Just as teachers must define the skills and knowledge they teach in academic areas,  they must identify the behaviors and expectations they hold for students.   When students do not meet those expectations, teachers need to know how to identify behavior and define behaviors in order to address the reduction or elimination of target behaviors and increase of replacement behaviors.  Defining behavior in measurable and observation terms is a prerequisite  for measuring behavior  and changing behavior. Defining the Target Behavior is one of four Essential Skills Trainings that are beneficial to attend prior to any of the Tier 2 trainings being provided throughout the school year. The Essentials will be required in 2018-19 for the development of school district teams that will receive in depth training and coaching toward building local capacity.
