SCSC - Word Play: Having Fun with Phonics

Do you want to know how to tell your kindergarten or first grade students WHY certain words look or sound the way they do? This 2-day event focuses on instructional approaches aimed at exploring the sound, pattern, and meaning relationships among words to develop children's phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and vocabulary. Students are guided towards making discoveries about how words work and generalizing their understandings in order to read, spell, and write more efficiently.  TESS components addressed for this workshop include:  1A, 3A, and 3C.
