WDMESC: The Secretary of State’s Office Presents: Using the State Capitol to Teach
The PD offered by the Secretary of State’s Office is appropriate for teachers of all grade levels and teachers (k-12) that teach History, Social Studies, Civics, Government, Music, Art, Architecture, and even Literacy! The workshop will walk teachers through the History of how the Arkansas State Capitol came to be, as well as a full virtual tour of the Capitol Building, which students would receive if they did the virtual tour or an in-person tour of the building. This tour includes the history of the building, art, architecture, civics, and an overview of how state government works. The workshop will also walk teachers through all of our FREE traveling classroom presentations and online resources, step-by-step, in addition to field trip information. It is not necessary for attendees to bring laptops/technology, however, walking through the website in a hands-on style may prove beneficial.
