OUR Visual Support Strategies for Students with Autism
In an effort to help teachers and staff who work with students with autism, this training will provide participants with ideas on a range of visual supports that can be used to prevent problem behaviors, teach acceptable behaviors and routines, and address basic needs in the classroom. Due to the wide range in differences among students, supports will be broken down according to levels of support based on the DSM-V categories of autism. In this way, ideas for students needing only minimal support to students needing substantial support will be recognized and addressed. Participants will be given the opportunity to develop their own plans for supports for the upcoming school year.
