Participants engaging in this session will be able to:
• See a snapshot
of mental health issues and disorders occurring locally and nationally
• Describe the five steps to emotional self-regulation
(Bailey, 2015 Conscious Discipline®) to prevent personal burnout and to teach
students these steps to cope with strong emotions
• Outline an effective strategy for addressing non-suicidal
self-injurious behavior
• Apply additional
counseling interventions to assist students’ to problem solve
