DSC HSU STEM Center: Beyond code.org- What Comes Next For Students Learning to Code

The STEM Center at Henderson State University is excited to offer this professional development

for teachers, librarians/media specialists, and facilitators looking for the next step beyond code.org.  This one day workshop will highlight Apple Swift Playgrounds, Scratch, and Pencil Code.  These three engaging and FREE resources takes beginning coders to the next level and allow them to work on projects that can be integrated across the curriculum.

With Apple Swift Playgrounds, students learn to Code with iPad.  Coding is an essential skill that teaches problem-solving, develops teamwork, and inspires creativity. Join Apple to learn how you can engage elementary and middle school students in the world of coding on iPad with visual-based apps, Swift Playgrounds, and Everyone Can Code resources designed for teachers.

With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
