GFESC - EMPOWERING WRITERS: K-1
This workshop is geared for teachers of kindergarten and grade 1, language arts specialists, and administrators. Participants will learn how to: (1) examine the developmental stages of writing, (2) explore the reading-writing connection, (3) use literature and informational texts as a jumping off point for instruction, (4) identify genre and purpose, (5) recognize critical elements of narrative, informational, & opinion writing, (6) teach age-appropriate summarization skills (7) share the power of vivid elaboration, (8) introduce games for vocabulary development, (9) recognize and build suspense, and (10) apply age-appropriate research skills.
