We have a clarity problem in our schools. We are not crystal clear about what we want our students to know and be able to do. We implement programs and initiatives, but without clarity of learning goals that provide the sharp focus for both instruction and assessment, teachers cannot achieve the maximum possible impact on student learning. Leaders often lack confidence and knowledge of just how to go about supporting standards/assessment/instructional clarity at their campuses.
