The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to increase their understanding of scoliosis screening procedures and have the training necessary to complete mandated scoliosis screenings. This is a required training for NEW school nurses and those who it has been more than five years since their last scoliosis training.
OBJECTIVES:
- Assess knowledge of the law and responsibilities related to scoliosis screenings.
- Explain why scoliosis screening is necessary.
- Identify the nine steps of the scoliosis screening process.
- Demonstrate the two stages of scoliosis screening.
- Differentiate between a normal spine and scoliosis and the recommendation for referral.
- Describe the documentation standards for the scoliosis program.
- Explore different diagnostic and treatment options available along with resources for referrals.
Course completion requires participant to register on A-Train; complete a pre and post course assessment and to attend the entire session. A-Train session ID # 1046026. Participants are required to log into A-Train and complete the course evaluation within 2 weeks of completing the course or they will be withdrawn and not receive CNE contact hours.
