OUR SIM Paraphrasing and Summarizing for Grades 4-12
The Fundamentals of Paraphrasing and Summarizing is part of the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) Learning Strategies Curriculum. This strategy is designed for students to learn how to summarize paragraphs and begins with finding synonyms, building up to paraphrasing phrases and sentences, and then learning to identify topic, main ideas, and details in connected texts. This evidence-based strategy is designed for use with individuals or small groups, but can also be used in whole classes of up to 25 students. This workshop is ideal for interventionists and special educators as well as classroom teachers. The Instructor's Manual and Student Materials books will be provided, with scripted lessons, reading practice passages, answer keys, pre- and post-assessments and progress monitoring tools. Lunch will also be provided.
