OUR SIM Unit Organizer for Grades 4-12

The Unit Organizer Routine is one of the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) strategies for enhancing classroom instruction in content courses for grades four through high school.  This organizer helps teachers communicate to students, parents, and support staff how the current unit of instruction is part of the bigger course ideas, to define relationships and clarify assignments, and to monitor student learning progress.  This session will include a brief overview of the SIM Model and Content Enhancement Routines, followed by instruction and practice in the Unit Organizer Routine.  Teachers should bring an instructional unit they plan to teach early in the year for practice with the new strategy.  This would be an ideal situation for teachers who would like to collaboratively plan instruction for the same course; it would also be ideal for schools who would like to present course content in a consistent manner across content areas.  Participants will receive the UO Guidebook, lunch, and materials.
