This course, "Obesity Prevention and Education for School Nurses," is designed to increase school nurses' knowledge on issues related to childhood obesity.
Objectives:
Define obesity and relate current trends in Arkansas and in the United States.
Discuss risk factors for childhood obesity.
Explain health consequences of obesity.
Review history and pertinent legislation related to Body Mass Index in Arkansas. Demonstrate the process for appropriate height and weight measurement for children.
List resources available for schools and school nurses to combat childhood obesity.
