Capturing student voice and narrativizing it for others will carry out deep change in our schools academically, socially and emotionally if we are willing to inform, reform, and transform our schools by putting key strategies into action. Participants will learn directly from co-author, Rebecca Coda, how to implement the Let Them Speak! Project based on the book, Let Them Speak: How Student Voice Can Transform Your School, how to facilitate classroom and school-wide student voice initiatives using the facilitators guide, discuss the levels of student participation by teachers, discover the obstacles and fears teachers may have about student voice, and create an entry plan for student voice activation in your classroom, school, or district.
Research from NAESP in partnership with the Quaglia Institute indicates that students are 7x more likely to be academically motivated than students who do not believe they have a voice. Student voice also leads to an increased likelihood that students will experience self-worth, engagement, and purpose in school.
