SCSC-Understanding Juvenile Law



This 7-hour course is designed to provide school resource officers, school administrators, school security officers, counselors and law enforcement officers with an overview of the juvenile justice system and related laws. This training will serve as a survey of the administration of juvenile delinquency and justice, including the structural components of the juvenile justice system and the stages of the criminal process from the detection of crime and arrest through prosecution, adjudication, and rehabilitation and its alternatives. Emphasis will be directed upon analysis of decisions and practices within the entire juvenile justice system as well as discretion in the administration of juvenile justice.


Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. All other participants including nurses and paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (the address tied to escWorks). In the event that an individual cannot attend the session for which he/she registered, it is the individual’s responsibility to cancel using his/her escWorks shoebox. Cancellations may take place up to the day before the session(s). All "no-shows" will be invoiced the full price.
