While implementation of response to
intervention (RTI) at the secondary level addresses the same essential
components as elementary schools, it looks quite different in practice. In this
interactive session, we will explain and model how secondary schools implement
the essential components of RTI and how this differs from, but aligns with,
implementation in elementary settings. The session will highlight contextual
factors found to impact secondary RTI implementation and provide
recommendations for how schools can address these factors. Participants will be
provided opportunities to use shared resources that support implementation of
the essential components and help secondary schools avoid common RTI
implementation pitfalls. Participants should bring: Computer (for activity). Target Audience: District and Secondary Building-level Leadership, LEA Supervisors, Classroom Teachers (Grades 7-12), Preservice Teachers/Teacher Interns, Secondary and Special Education Faculty of Teacher Prep Programs. Presenter: Stacia J. Rush, Ph.D with American Institutes for Research
