GREC- Critical Reading Day 1,2,3,4



This is the first day of a 4-day training series that meets the awareness credential for the Science of Reading.  This day will focus on Critical Reading I standards as well as strategies for engaging the adolescent reader.  You will walk away from this workshop with solid strategies for engaging your most reluctant readers.

Day 2 :  This day will focus on Critical Reading 1 standards and scientifically based best practices in adolescent reading comprehension.  You will walk away from this workshop with a solid plan for how to intervene with low-progress readers and how to track their progress.

Day 3 :  This day will focus on practical, time-saving practices for direct vocabulary instruction in Greek and Latin roots.  Word study will be addressed through small group intervention lessons.  You will walk away with a solid plan for how to improve vocabulary and spelling for all students.

Day 4 :  This day will focus on standards as well as how students' choice of text response leads to deeper comprehension.  Response to text is generated through thoughtful reflection and comprehension of text.  You will walk away with different methods for student responses including handwritten and electronic responses.
