AFESC--(6-8) Connecting Mathematical Proficiency to High Leverage Instructional Strategy



This 6 hour virtual session will consist of online pd and independent work.

This interactive session will focus on supporting NCTM’s Effective Mathematics Teaching Practice #2: Implement tasks that promote reasoning and problem solving is critical  for ambitious teaching. It is important for students to have instructional experiences that prepare them for problem solving and the rigor of ACT Aspire. In this session,  6-8 teachers will engage and plan instructional tasks targeting frequent  tested skills and concepts, DOK levels, outlined from the ACT Performance Level Descriptors and Exemplars. Connections to the NCTM’s Effective Teaching Practices and Student Mathematical Practices will be connected throughout the training.

Participants will be notified by email regarding the session time frame, supplies,online  resources and  Zoom links needed. It is recommended you have a Zoom account. Information on setting up a free  Zoom account can be found at https://zoom.us/signin . Recommended devices for this training are desktop computers, laptops, and tablets.
