SWAEC- School Paraprofessional Personal Care Training

Personal care training will provide paraprofessionals in school districts having special education students needing assistance with their physical dependency needs the required practical training piece (10 hours) of the required 40-hour training. The district must employ an RN, and the RN will write the personal care assessment/prior authorization on the students being assisted. The services that are billable include bathing, bladder and bowel requirements, eating, dressing, incidental housekeeping, hygiene, shopping, mobility, and ambulation. This training covers everything the school district needs to know to bill for personal care. I ask that the RN who will be writing the care plans and supervising be in attendance with their paraprofessional, as I will cover all paperwork, so that everyone is on the same page.
