ARESC-RISE 3-6; Day 2: Phonics
Phonics instruction plays a fundamental role in teaching students to read. Participants will learn how the Science of Reading support this claim. Assessments will be examined and components of effective phonics instruction will be analyzed, which includes both regular and irregular words. Educators will be given a thorough explanation of the syllable types in our language, and syllable division rules will be explained in order to help students decode and encode words. For grades 3-6 much of this instruction could be used at an intervention level to close gaps in Foundational Reading skills.
Important Session Information:
Participants not under contract with ARESC's Member districts will be charged a fee of $25 per day, or $15 per half day. Payment is required prior to the event session.
Disclaimer*** Registered participants who do not attend and fail to cancel their registration will be held liable for the registration fee if applicable.
