Due to the evolution of school leadership, many leaders find themselves in positions without the necessary skills that are needed to lead school improvement. Instructional leadership is considered the second most influential and crucial component to student achievement. The skills associated with effective instructional leadership must be learned and developed. During this session, participants will take an interactive deep dive into the six instructional leadership components:
• Leader of Learning: Clear goals and expectations for student achievement and classroom instruction.
• Formats and structures for regular teacher interaction.
• Formalized processes for sustained professional development to ensure all staff have the skills necessary to attain goals.
• Systems for formally monitoring and evaluating progress.
• Allocation of resources to accomplish goals.
• Collective, shared leadership to ensure goals and expectations are met.
