Description: This session is for educators who have chosen Pathway D as their proficiency pathway for Science of Reading which includes watching the Arkansas IDEAS videos plus 3 additional days. This session is one of six options for the 3 days required along with the videos to complete phase 1 of Pathway D. Participants will understand the rationale behind the Science of Reading and begin to develop an understanding of the scientific theoretical models on which the training is based. Participants will understand how the brain learns to read and how the brain permanently stores words. What works in the prevention of reading difficulties and interventions will be addressed, and how over 40 years of research in the Science of reading connect to classroom practice.
Educators needing a proficiency pathway are K-6 teachers of ELA, math, science, or social studies and K-12 SpEd teachers.
