OUR (Virtual) 3 Dimensional Teaching and Learning with OpenSciEd (6th Grade)

What does a 6th grade classroom look and sound like when all students are engaged in science sense-making? What structures and supports can teachers implement to make this a reality for their classrooms? In this session, we will address both of these questions while engaging in the elements of a grade specific OpenSciEd Unit of instruction. These units are designed to inspire student-driven inquiry and engagement in meaningful three-dimensional explorations of science phenomena, while also engaging in grade-level appropriate English language arts and mathematics. OpenSciEd’s high quality, locally adaptable full-course materials align with the shifts called for by the Arkansas K-12  Science Standards and are freely available to download and adapt.
