As students extend their conceptual and procedural knowledge of mathematics throughout the middle grades, many tricks and rules taught in foundational math classrooms are set to “expire”. This session will support intermediate and middle school educators to build solid mathematical experiences grounded in fluency, reasoning, sense making, and problem solving. This session will address several mathematics concepts and tricks that expire throughout the grades and support strategies and tasks for reshaping instruction on these skills. This session will also address ACT Aspire PLD’s needs related to these topics.
