Getting your students to talk is pretty easy. Getting them to share about their prior experiences and cultural backgrounds is not as easy. You can bring dialogue into the classroom in a structured way that still allows for you to find out beneficial background that will affect the way you plan to teach. In this session, teachers of 6-12th graders can see a model for how to access this information from students and use it to develop rapport with their students.
