AFESC--The Social Studies Triumph: Understanding Our Purpose & Reinvigorating Our Curriculum



In this session, educators will explore engagement strategies to help invigorate instruction in social studies classrooms. Discussions will be held about the benefits of critical thinking, high-level analysis, and differentiated approaches to ensuring participation from diverse student populations. Participants will take away several specific strategies that can be used to facilitate growth in a variety of ways while reflecting on purpose and impact. Overall, the emphasis will be on the fundamental position social studies as a field can occupy in school settings and the benefits of an engaging social studies curriculum.
