NWAESC(2095)---What Does Science Show Us About Learning? A look at Sensory Input, Working Memory, and Retrieval ***ZOOM***

What can science teach us about what works and what doesn’t work in education? Emeritus professor, Dr. Paul A. Kirschner, an internationally renowned educational psychologist, will present effective teaching and learning strategies based on empirical educational and psychological research. Such strategies address the overload of sensory input and the limited capacity of working memory. Techniques based on the forgetting curve, retrieval effect, interleaving, and spaced practice can lead to more efficient and effective teaching and learning. Students in all phases of cognitive development can benefit from the techniques and theoretical bases presented by Dr. Kirschner. This outstanding session complements Arkansas’s Science of Reading and R.I.S.E initiatives. There will be time for questions and answers after the presentation.
