The reading of nonfiction places many demands upon the reader. It requires that the reader utilize a variety of skills and strategies, as well as background knowledge and experiences, to make meaning of complicated text arrangements, vocabulary, and author's intent. Based on the book, Reading Nonfiction, by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst, this professional learning experience will introduce the questioning stance using the 3 Big Questions these authors have identified as essential in helping readers analyze and evaluate nonfiction text.
This is a blended learning opportunity. Participants will meet via Zoom in the morning and will have independent work time in the afternoon.
