WDMESC: Math Routines for K-5 - Virtual

This professional development will help teachers to experience the joys and rewards of regularly using Math Routines in their classrooms. The focus of the routines will be Choral Counting, Counting Collections, and Number Talks as it paints a vision for how deeply and creatively children can engage with ideas of number and operations and mathematical sense-making through counting. You will learn how to use open-ending counting activities

* to deepen children's number sense;

* how counting activities can produce both social and academic benefits;

* how teachers can engage with families to build on students' mathematical thinking; and

* how to facilitate collaborative activities with multiple entry points and multiple ways to be

  successful.

Research based on Choral Counting & Counting Collections: Transforming the PreK-5 Math Classroom by Megan Franke, Elham Kazemi, and Angela Chan Turrou and Number Talks by Sherri Parrish.

NOTE:  If you have the books, please have them with you.
