AFESC--Keys to Content Writing Overview Option 1

This workshop will begin with a review of the components of writing instruction that are part of The Writing Rope framework and the research about the value of writing about reading. Next, instructional suggestions will be provided for using “quick writes” to support content learning in any subject. The importance of teaching students to follow the stages of writing and awareness of the task, audience and purpose for informational, argument or narrative writing will be emphasized. The remainder of the workshop will model strategies for writing from text sources, including annotating text to identify relevant information, taking two-column notes to gather information from sources, and moving from pre-planning notes to sentence and paragraph writing. A model practice activity will be used and time will be allotted for a practice activity.

There are two options for this session.  This session is Option 1, and is a blended option that is part Zoom and part face-to-face at Arch Ford.

You also have a choice to register for Option 2 , which will take place entirely via Zoom.  Here is the link to that registration(442811).  Please note that option 2 will require participants to turn in a product for full PD credit.
