SCSC - The Foundations of the Science of Reading for K-6 Support Staff
This training will help equip support K-6 staff members with the foundations of the science of reading. The BIG five essential components of reading (phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension) will be explained and demonstrated as well as opportunities to practice explicit and systematic instructional strategies and assessments for progress monitoring. This interactive session will be packed with knowledge as well as application pieces to help support staff provide instruction that is better aligned to the science of reading.

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium the fee has been waived. Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks). Participants are not allowed to bring guests (such as children or spouses) to any training.
