GFESC Arkansas Rocks (and other Earth Science)



 Earth Sciences are included in all of the integrated science courses for middle and high school. Arkansas initiatives this year will focus on content development in the Earth Sciences to assist teachers whose traditional backgrounds consist primarily of either the physical or biological sciences.

Join us for a day of exploring geology, meteorology, and space sciences.  Teachers will be provided both content instruction as well as pertinent lessons and materials that can be used immediately in the classroom.  Instruction will focus on rock identification, fossils, crustal plate movement with subsequent volcanoes and earthquakes, Astronomy, and weather.  

Field experiences in the earth sciences will be offered as additional instruction during other PD sessions during summer 21.

LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED

Prepare for the outdoors.  Sunscreen, insect repellant, etc.  You will need rock collection tools and a sack to collect samples. GFESC is not responsible for accidents while traveling or participating in outdoor workshops. 
LUNCH IS NOT PROVIDED, bring drinks and a sack lunch.
