NWAESC(2246)---Novice SPED Teachers PLC #1
Novice SPED Teachers PLC 1: Karen Brown, NWAESC Special Education Mentoring Specialist, will be joined by Robin Striping from the DESE SPED Unit to present critical elements to becoming a successful SPED teacher in Arkansas. This session will provide an introduction to DESE SPED and how to use the site for support and communication; writing measurable goals that match state standards for effective IEPs; MAP; how Virtual/Online SPED impacts IEP goals, IEP meetings, due process for virtual students; services, evaluations, paras, etc.; updates on laws, regulations, etc.; and, a brief overview of what monitoring is and the expectations. A question and answer time will follow.
