GREC-Science PD at the Parks: Parkin Archeological State Park

Science PD at the Parks: Parkin Archeological State Park

Science has always studied the natural world and the phenomena that fill it. And we who live in the Delta of Arkansas have greater access than many to such phenomena, especially in our area state parks! What’s more, using phenomena in our science classrooms has incredible benefits that include increased student engagement, easier classroom management, and authentic, meaningful scientific student-centered inquiry. In this laid-back session, we will nature-walk Parkin Archeological State Park to observe, collect, and study both natural and man-made local phenomena and discuss ways to use these in your classroom. If you have young children, you can bring them, too! The three-hour session will be in the morning before temperatures get too hot and will include a guided tour from park staff (COVID protocol permitting). Snacks and plenty of cold water will be provided.
