Educational Neglect is a category of child abuse identified under the mandated reporter law for educators. For other types of reports, details are necessary to determine if abuse exists, however the educational neglect category has several identified components that must be documented and additional detail are not necessary. In this session, you will hear from Dan Mack, Hotline Administrator for the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline (844) SAVEACHILD. This session will address:
- The difference between truancy and educational neglect.
- What information is needed for Educational Neglect reports, and what is not.
- Address common problems in reports received by the hotline, especially by fax.
With educational neglect reports, less is more. This session will provide tips for educators to help refine the reporting process. Feel free to use this link to submit questions prior to the session.
