WDMESC: Hearing Screening Certification for School Nurses
Workshop Description (include source of research): A nurse that is new to school health lacks the training necessary to understand the requirements and procedures for detecting a hearing deficit in a school-aged child according to law A.C.A. § 6-18-701 . Please bring Hearing Screening machines to training.
Learner Outcomes:
•
The learner will be able to explain the importance of hearing screening for the school-aged child.
•
The learner will be able to identify the components of the hearing screening procedure.
•
The learner will be able to demonstrate use of an audiometer.
Course Completion requires participant to: register on ATrain; complete a pre and post course assessment; and to attend the entire session.
Each participant will have 7 days after the NCPD Activity to complete the evaluation in TRAIN. The NCPD committee will go into TRAIN & check the status of the evaluation several times within the 7 days to verify the evaluation. After the evaluation has been verified, the participant will be able to go into TRAIN and print the certificate.

The Arkansas Department of Health is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
