GFESC SPED 101: THE ESSENTIALS PART 2



SPED 101: THE ESSENTIALS PART 2 is the second of four trainings which will be offered throughout the 2021-22 school year to provide novice special education teachers the professional development and support needed to ensure that all children with disabilities receive a free and appropriate education as outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Act. LEARNING TARGETS: Learning targets for SPED 101: THE ESSENTIALS PART 2  will include:  1. An overview of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process and guidance including extended school year (ESY) consideration and services; 2. Present Level of Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) components;  3. Writing measurable goals and objectives; 4. Early Childhood and Post-Secondary Transition, and 5.  Tips and tricks for conducting IEP meetings, building relationships, and collecting data ***Content presented will apply to the basics of due process and will not address individual district processes and procedures.  Participants will be directed to their individual LEA/Special Education Supervisor as the primary resource for application of due process according to individual district process and procedures.

Novice special education teachers in years 1, 2, or 3 of the profession.  Training is also open to veteran special education teachers and support staff who may desire a refresher in specific areas covered/ learning targets.
