NWAESC(2095)---Trauma Informed Practices to Engage ALL Students - Focus: Your Mental Health

"There are many things in our world right now that can feel unsettling. Teaching is an extremely rewarding and demanding profession, and it can put us over the edge. We will focus on your mental health and wellbeing and provide structure to allow yourself grace. Broken into three parts, Awareness, Acknowledgement & Action, we will establish the difference between consequence mindset and punishment mindset, safe behavior vs. unsafe behavior and leave with the understanding that it's not about fixing kids...it's about guiding them on their life journeys. Objectives • Gain strong awareness of trauma and what it does to the heart & brain • Acknowledge the reality of our students’ home lives & take control of what we can • Take accountability for our actions, for they determine the direction of our lives & relationships with our students
