NWAESC(2095)...Internet Safety/Sex Trafficking
The Morgan Nick Foundation has been in existence for 25 years; we work with families of missing or abducted children. We focus on keeping children safe and we believe education is the key. In today's world of technology and the internet we know children are at their most vulnerable. Across the world each month, there are an average of 10 billion hours spent on social media platforms. Children spend an average of 12-14 hours a day in front of screens. The typical user actively uses or visits a minimum of 6.7 different social media accounts regularly. This amount of internet usage is a critical part of the safety issues children are facing today. Sharing too much information, cyberbullying, runaways, sexting, sextortion, and sex trafficking are all issues that have led to Arkansas Legislation requiring educators to be better educated to identify these issues and be the first line of defense for our children.
