Dyslexia for a Day: Experience Dyslexia and Explore Techniques for the K-6 Classroom

As a teacher working with a dyslexic child, have you ever wondered what THEIR day is like? This workshop is designed to help teachers gain a better understanding of and empathy for those children who struggle with dyslexia. Your awareness of just how it feels to be dyslexic in your classroom will help you communicate and teach your dyslexic students in a way that they can learn and be just as successful as their non-dyslexic counterparts. We will laugh and cry throughout this presentation as it will be a very eye-opening experience! This workshop will also explore how best to support dyslexia students in your classroom. We will discuss strategies that will help your K-6 dyslexic population. Using the experiences from the morning session, we will brainstorm together how it felt to be dyslexic and how the strategies that we explore will be beneficial! Also, included will be some technology pieces that might be beneficial to your younger dyslexia students.
