We've all
heard the term "think on your feet." Teaching students to
possess this skill is not an easy task, but we know that students need
this skill if they're going to reach their optimal level of functioning in
society. As adults, we daily have to think on our feet and respond to what the
world throws our way.
In this
session, we will specifically focus on the spontaneous portion of the
Odyssey of the Mind competition. In this portion of competition, students are
required to use critical thinking skills in a timely manner to solve
problems. We will work to develop strategies related to this and focus on
how we can instill these skills into our students.
While
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) will be the backdrop of this session, you by no means
have to be a part of OM to attend. The focus will be on building critical
thinking and problem solving skills in students through fun, interactive
activities, so all are encouraged to attend!
