NWAESC(2095)---Arts With Education (AWE) Institute

"Arts with Education Institute (AWE) is the longest running education program at Walton Arts Center. It began the summer before our doors opened in 1992 as a partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and NWAESC. Sean Layne, leader in the field of arts integration, with Trike Theatre for Youth, will train elementary education teachers and arts specialists how to use arts integration strategies across the curriculum to make teaching more engaging and effective. Arts integration training for teachers transforms how teachers teach as well as how students learn, what students remember and ultimately what they know. This year’s focus is on using arts to build early elementary student skills in cooperation and collaboration and achievement in literacy. Funding for AWE is provided in part by the Arkansas Arts Council and Walton Arts Center supporters and benefactors. "
