GFESC Priority (Essential) Standards for Success in Mathematics Grades 3-8
This session will focus on Operational Fluency for grades 3-5 and Algebraic Reasoning, Ratios and Proportions for grades 6-7. The approach will be aligned to current Arkansas standards and unpacked as Priority, Supporting and Additional for targeted levels of mastery for each grade level and goals for the grade band. Teachers will receive materials, resources, instructional strategies and guidance on information and formal formatives to determine mastery of priority skills. A special focus will be presented and developed on Problem Solving. Eighth grade teachers will have a choice of attending this session for 3-8 or attending the Secondary Mathematics session offered the following day. Eighth grade teachers teaching Algebra 1 are encouraged to attend the Secondary session.
