This program is devised to assist schools in providing scaffolding for kids at risk. Students that feel an integral part of the school they attend and establish relationships with teachers and other students within that school are much more successful. Into the Outdoors involves bringing small cohorts of students from each participating school and providing them instruction to serve as teacher assistants in local outdoor education. It is also an opportunity to get your students into the outdoors excited about nature and the environment.
Students will participate in kayaking (weather permitting), archery, water studies,
birding, and outdoor physical education. Each session includes elements of cross-
curricula instruction. Each school will be allowed 10-15 participants based on school
size and need. Teachers will receive 6 hours of professional content development.
Teachers should enroll through this site and then contact Curtis.varnell@wscstarfish.com
and report the number of students they plan to bring.
