DSC Science of Reading Overview
Science of Reading: Participants will understand the rationale behind RISE training and begin to develop an understanding of the scientific theoretical models on which the training is based. Participants will understand that speaking is natural and reading is not. Therefore, promoting permanent word storage begins with mapping sounds to letters. Assessments and strategies for addressing instructional needs in phonology will be examined to connect the Science of Reading to classroom practice.
