SE Reading Comprehension Blueprint: Syntax and Inference for K-6



This presentation is part of The Reading Comprehension Series. Participants will define syntax and inferencing, and frame it within the context of the Science or Reading. They will examine how analyzing syntax enhances reading comprehension for students of various grade levels. Participants will be able to apply syntax to student learning through exemplar activities, while reflecting on current practice and future implementation. They will examine how defining the two necessary types of inferences enhances reading comprehension for students of various grade levels, and understand the Levels of Understanding” in reading comprehension. Participants will understand how cohesive devices contribute to reading comprehension and the steps for teaching necessary inferences.
