NWAESC(2095)---Teen Suicide Awareness and Prevention



This three-hour training meets the AR Department of Education two hour required topic for 2023-2024. Participants will learn about suicidal ideation including prevalence, risk factors, signs, and reasons students exhibit these behaviors. Participants will review and practice nationally recommended protocols for responding to students, including how to ask about suicide, “warm handoffs” to mental health professionals, and tips to engage caregiver support for students. Depending on the audience, we will review and practice suicide assessment tools appropriate for school counselors’ use.
