Mysterious Musical Elements: An Escape Room Learning Experience



Led by veteran teacher, teaching artist, and Opera singer Patty Oeste, this workshop will explore ways to teach/reinforce student knowledge of the elements of music.  The elements of music will be split into the following sections: Perplexing Rhythm, Magical Melody, Baffling Harmony, Inscrutable Form, Shifty Timber, and Mystical Expression.  Teachers will participate in discussions defining the elements, activities about the elements, and then edit the definitions post activity.  After experiencing the elements, teachers will enter an "Escape Room" where small groups must solve the puzzle to unlock the mystery and free themselves!  Teachers will end the day by considering how they might incorporate this project in to their music classroom. 

Important Session Information:


A $100 FEE WILL BE DUE ON THE DAY OF THE TRAINING IF NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE DMESC PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM.
